On the Hauptplatz (main square) next to the town hall stands the pillory (facing south) from the year 1561. It was built from Zogeldorf sandstone. On 2 pedestals, a decorated shaft rises. On the upper cincture is carved:
Above it a capital with lion's faces. In the upper part is an arm with sword and under it a stone ball with chain. On the opposite side handcuffs are attached to chains. A pine cone forms the top end.
Chronicle
In 1561, the old pillory (probably made of wood) was renewed and was then in use until the abolition of 'torture' in 1776. It was then removed. When the capital, which had been used as a press stone in the meantime, was rediscovered in 1959, the pillory was reconstructed together with other original parts.
