He was born on June 1, 1842 near Valley Forge, PA and died on October 1, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA. He attained the rank of Major General in the U.S. Army. His Medal of Honor information and citation is: PENNYPACKER, GALUSHA

Citation: Gallantly led the charge over a traverse and planted the colors of one of his regiments thereon, was severely wounded.
