EN Every 10 years, the Quinson Dam releases all the water it usually retains for maintenance. Once the water is released, the bottom of the dam becomes accessible for inspection for repairs, for changes in water inlets, filters, etc.
On the occasion of maintenance and emptying, a hike along the banks of the Verdon River offers views that are totally different from what we usually see. Surprises are then offered to hikers.
Here, it is the Lake of Artignosc that is empty and shows a bridge. Before the construction of the dam and the immersion of this area, a bridge was used to cross the Verdon River from Saint Laurent du Verdon to Artignosc.
It is a stone bridge that, despite its prolonged stay underwater, about ten metres away, has remained in good condition. On the sides, we can see the letters R & F for French Republic.
Today, a new bridge makes it possible to cross and it is necessary to wait ten years from September 2018 to come back to see it
