Sharon was a plains area in Israel, and the Rose of Sharon was named for a flowering shrub which grew there. I am not a shrub, but it was fun driving out in rural Washita County and coming across this church with my name.

The Sharon Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1895, and its current building was built in 1951. The land was donated to the church in 1910 by the pioneering family of B. E. Bryant.

The name Sharon appears above the door of the church and also on a granite monument on the grounds telling the history of the church and the Bryant family.
