Fire Dept Website"Fire Station #2 serves as the operational headquarters for the Huntsville Fire Department. The station opened in 1973 under Chief Jack King. The building and grounds previously served as the location of the city swimming pool. The existing pool house was converted to the station offices, living quarters, and training room. The apparatus bay was constructed over the site of the old pool to house the department apparatus.
This is the most central fire station that serves downtown and the college. The units out of this station can respond to any major city or county corridor within minutes to render aid. This station also houses a MICU ambulance run by Walker County EMS. The medic unit is not provided by the fire department, nor is it staffed by fire department personnel."
