On the sidewalk at the southeast corner of a Chevron Station, this hydrant's paint job could be over 50 years old, if a number on the lady's cheek is interpreted correctly. On her right cheek are the digits 63, which could be taken to be an abbreviation for 1963. I'll leave it to the reader to make any conclusions.

The hydrant is painted to resemble a native woman, or, if the 63 is pertinent here, a hippy girl wearing a beaded headband. A decorated bag, or purse, is attached to her red belt.

The hydrant itself was manufactured by the Iowa Valve Company of Oskaloosa, IA. It is a later Model "50" with Patent date of FEB 14 28. It would have been manufactured much later than 1928, however.
