The forest-green painted wooden bench is about 5 foot wide, and is a 'bus-stop' style of bench (rather uncomfortable and utilitarian), with cast concrete supports for the wooden slats, that are all the same width. There are two for the backrest, and three (with a very slight concave curve) for the seat, and they are all fixed with coach bolts from the front. The top backrest slat has the plaque inset into it. The simple, etched brass plaque is held in place with four Philips-head screws. It reads:

PHIL AND MEG ALVER
