Petrovice are located close to the border between the Czech Republic and Germany.
The church was built in 1793. In the premises of the former sacristy and the oratorio of the church, the Petrovice Museum was founded, devoted mainly to the history of the village and the Napoleonic wars.

První zmínky o obci sahají až do roku 1352 pod latinským názvem Petri silva.
Kostel sv. Mikuláše (
visit link) pochází z roku 1793 stojí pri silnici nad obcí. Barokní kostel s oltárem netypicky orientovaným na sever je jednolodní podélná stavba. Kostelní vež s cibulovitou strechou byla k štítové stene pristavena až v roce 1904. V prostorách bývalé sakristie a oratore kostela vzniklo Petrovické muzeum, které se venuje predevším historii obce a napoleonským válkám.
