EN: The catholic parish church Guthirt (good shepherd) of Aarburg is located east of the old town between the castle and the train station.
The church was built in 1941/42, after a Catholic mission station existed in Aarburg since 1933. The construction was planned by Otto Dreyer and inaugurated in 1942. In 1952, the church tower received four bells. The church was completely redesigned during a 1976 renovation.
The simple main building, which is divided into a central nave and two narrow side aisles, is a wooden structure that looks only externally like a stone building. The narrow rectangular bell tower in the southwest corner, unlike originally planned, consists of rubble with a wooden belfry.
DE: Die katholische Pfarrkirche Guthirt von Aarburg befindet sich östlich der Altstadt etwa zwischen dem Schloss und dem Bahnhof.
Die Kirche wurde 1941/42 erbaut, nachdem schon seit 1933 ein katholische Missionsstation in Aarburg existierte. Der Bau wurde von Otto Dreyer geplant und 1942 eingeweiht. 1952 erhält der Kirchturm vier Glocken. Die Kirche wurde bei einer Renovation 1976 grundlegend umgestaltet.
Das schlichte Haupgebäude, das in ein Mittel- und zwei schmale Seitenschiffe unterteilt ist, ist eine Holzkonstruktion, die nur äusserliich wie ein Steinbau aussieht. Der schmale rechteckige Glockenturm in der südwestlichen Ecke, besteht anders als ursprünglich geplant aus Bruchsteinen mit einem hölzernen Glockenstuhl.
