EN In 1642, a diminicain thought he saw a chapel on the top of this hill. He realized that it was only a rock. He saw in his misunderstanding a sign and had a sanctuary built there for the Virgin Mary. Many miraculous healings followed and this sanctuary became a popular place of pilgrimage. The rock served as the bedside of the chapel and carried the 1779 bell from the former Barjols hospital. Historical Monument since 1981. A local legend tells that Jesus and Mary left two footprints in a rock below the chapel, near the rocky spur giving access to the view of the village and the Bessllons massif.
