The rugged wooden bench is bolted to the pavers outside the Visitor Information Centre of Dorrigo. The single broad backrest slab, as the three similarly broad slabs that are butted together for the seat, but it is poor condition, and fair bit of the backrest covering has peeled off. The Dedication plaque is quite large, and occupies the full width of the backrest slat. [I'm not sure if the plaque was only glued in place, but it was NOT inset.] The plaque reads:
In Memory of
CHARLES (CHARLIE) DOUGLAS
MACRAE, AOM
For his years of Service
to the Community of Dorrigo
Sponsored by Dorrigo Rotary Club
and Members of the Community
Charlie Macrae received the Citizen of the Year Award in 1995. Australia Day Awards
The other online mention is that Charlie achieved first place in the 'end of year exams' at Dorrigo Public School in December 1931, when he was in 1st Class. [ex-Trove: Don Dorrigo Gazette, Friday, 18 December, 1931
