Its history as its status is little known. Yet the anti-tank channel zigzag from Esnandes to Villedoux since 1942. Built on the decision of the German occupier to prevent an Allied landing, this device is added to many blockhouses. About 20 meters wide, it begins at the level of the current Pus-Pied Hall Street of the Ocean Esnandes, boundary between the village and the maritime domain, to reach the east channel of Marans in La Rochelle by successive alignments of about 500 meters structured as a plan of fortifications to the Vauban. Its construction by the organization TODT required at the time the requisition of materials (cranes in particular) but also many arms. After serving as a "border" north La Rochelle pocket in the winter of 1944-1945 (it will be crossed by the French army in the morning of May 8, 1945), it will serve as a bathing place for children of the village before its gradual siltation limits the possibility, and fishing area. Today, it borders pleasantly East of the road of Charron, it meanders between fields and paths. If it is part of the hydrographic network of the town and serves as a natural receptacle for rainwater, its status is not that of a public watercourse! Indeed, the canal remains a succession of private parcels. None of the characteristics of the river area is therefore exercised and that is why there is no easement of passage on riverbanks in particular.

Son histoire comme son statut sont peu connus. Pourtant le canal anti-char zigzague d’Esnandes à Villedoux depuis 1942. Édifié sur décision de l’occupant allemand pour empêcher un débarquement allié, ce dispositif s’ajoute à de nombreux blockhaus. Large de 20 mètres environ, il débute au niveau de l’actuelle Salle du Pousse-Pied rue de l’Océan à Esnandes, limite entre le village et le domaine maritime, pour rejoindre à l’est le canal de Marans à La Rochelle par alignements successifs d’environ 500 mètres structurés comme un plan de fortifications à la Vauban. Sa construction par l’organisation TODT a nécessité à l’époque la réquisition de matériels (grues notamment) mais aussi de nombreux bras. Après avoir servi de « frontière » nord à la Poche de La Rochelle à l’hiver 1944-1945 (il ne sera franchi par l’armée française qu’au matin du 8 mai 1945), il servira de lieu de baignade aux enfants du village avant que son envasement progressif n’en limite la possibilité, et de coin de pêche. Aujourd’hui, il borde agréablement l’Est de la route de Charron, il serpente entre champs et chemins. S’il s’insère dans le réseau hydrographique de la commune et sert de réceptacle naturel aux eaux de pluie, son statut n’est pas celui d’un cours d’eau publique ! En effet, le canal demeure une succession de parcelles privées. Aucune des caractéristiques du domaine fluvial ne s’y exerce donc et c’est pourquoi il n’existe pas de servitude de passage sur berges notamment.
