Ein neues Museum in der Karl-Liebknecht-Straße will die Wahrnehmung auf die Probe stellen.
Gerade war Michael Posch noch groß, plötzlich sieht er im Vergleich zu seiner Kollegin winzig aus. Als sei er von jetzt auf gleich um mindestens einen Meter geschrumpft. Der Verstand der Beobachterin versucht, das rational zu erklären. Die Wahrnehmung widerspricht: Und ob das geht! Die Verwirrung gehört hier, im neuen Museum der Illusionen, zum Programm. Gerade eröffnete es in der Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, schräg gegenüber vom Fernsehturm.
Geschäftsführer Michael Posch tritt aus dem schiefen Raum heraus und freut sich über die Verunsicherung der Besucherin. „Genau um diesen Effekt geht es“, sagt er. Wie der Name des Museums vermuten lässt, dreht sich hier alles um optische Täuschungen und andere Illusionen: Es gibt einen umgekehrten Raum, einen unendlichen Raum und allerlei Ausstellungsstücke, die es darauf anlegen, unserem Gehirn einen Streich zu spielen.
Was bleibt, sind lustige Fotos
„Das ist einfache Mathematik und Physik“, erklärt Michael Posch. Und tatsächlich, viele Effekte erinnern an die Abbildungen geometrischer Illusionen in Mathebüchern. Pädagogik ist auch hier Teil des Konzepts. Sich zu fragen, wie ein gerader Stab durch eine krumme Öffnung passen kann, herumrätseln, es neu probieren und schließlich akzeptieren, dass Wahrnehmung subjektiv ist – all das ist Teil des interaktiven Gedankens. Franchise-Geber ist die Firma Metamorfoza, die ähnliche Museen unter anderem in Kroatien, Malaysia und Wien hat.
Und egal, ob man die Ursache der Täuschungen versteht oder nicht: Was bleibt, sind lustige Fotos. Einige Exponate funktionieren sogar nur durch die Kameralinse. Foto-Punkte am Boden regen die Besucher an, Erinnerungsaufnahmen zu schießen. Pädagogik hin, Mathe her, das Ziel sei, mit einem Lächeln hinauszugehen, sagt Michael Posch. Das tut die Besucherin. Und mit einem schwirrenden Kopf."

A new museum in Karl-Liebknecht-Straße wants to put perception to the test.

Managing director Michael Posch steps out of the leaning room and is pleased about the uncertainty of the visitor. "It's exactly this effect that's at stake," he says. As the name of the museum suggests, everything revolves around optical illusions and other illusions: There is an inverted space, an infinite space and all sorts of exhibits that aim to play a trick on our brains.
What remains are funny photos
"This is simple mathematics and physics," explains Michael Posch. And indeed, many effects are reminiscent of the illustrations of geometric illusions in maths books. Pedagogy is also part of the concept here. To ask oneself how a straight stick can fit through a crooked opening, puzzle around, try it again and finally accept that perception is subjective - all this is part of the interactive thought. The franchisor is Metamorfoza, which has similar museums in Croatia, Malaysia and Vienna, among others.
And regardless of whether one understands the cause of the deception or not: what remains are funny photos. Some exhibits even function only through the camera lens. Photo dots on the ground encourage visitors to shoot memories. Pedagogy backwards, math forwards, the goal is to go out with a smile, says Michael Posch. That's what the visitor does. And with a buzzing head."
