Known as The Sharon, this performing arts center that opened in 2015 was named for Sharon L. Morse, who, along with her husband Gary and other family members, developed The Villages active retirement community from a small mobile-home park starting in 1983 to over 100,000 residents today.

From the venue's website:

"The Sharon seats just over 1,000 guests in a multi-level theater offering state of the art audio, visual, and theatrical rigging systems to create an entertainment experience second to none. Performances spotlight a variety of artistic disciplines ranging from concerts and comedians to dance, musicals and operas."

A bronze dedication plaque is mounted to a free-standing plinth near the building's front entrance and box office and faces the Spanish Springs Town Square. It is fronted a small landscaped area of colorful flowers, uplit by a pair of lamps, and flanked by two mature palm trees. The dedication reads:

Sharon L. Morse, ASID
1936 - 1999
Wife, Mother, Nonnie, Artist, Designer

Her great love of the performing arts inspired Sharon Morse
to introduce her children and grandchildren to the magic of music
and theater in all its forms. Sharon encouraged them to sing, act,
dance, play and to appreciate both their own talents and the talents
of others. Sharon Morse’s own creativity and her love of the
arts are embodied in this Performing Arts Center, which is
dedicated to her memory and her enduring legacy within her
family and throughout our entire community.

The Villages was her canvas…family was her love and legacy.
