source Sud Ouest: After thirty months of work, including sixteen months of archaeological excavations, the new town hall of Dompierre-sur-Mer will be officially inaugurated, Saturday, June 25, at 17 hours, and will open on Monday, June 27.
With the end of this work, it is the town center of the town which continues its metamorphosis: planting flower beds, setting up soft links, installation of benches, planting trees ... All public spaces have have been redesigned, the history has been preserved and the common heritage renovated.
To give a final touch to this iconic site, City Council has decided to entrust the making of a work of art to a local artist. Thus, for the first time, in Dompierre-sur-Mer, a sculpture will be implanted in a sustainable way in an open and accessible to all.

New artists from the region, of diverse artistic sensibilities, had responded to the call for tenders launched for the realization of this large work, intended to mark the entrance of the new town hall by symbolizing six strong republican and human values. : freedom, equality, fraternity, secularism, solidarity and mutual aid.
After a presentation of these works to the artists of the town, the municipal staff, the representative of the Municipal Youth Council and the municipality that the final verdict was made: the selected artist is Alain Dony, stone sculptor of Saint-Pierre-d'Amilly and president of the collective artists rochelais Co-temporary.
His project of intertwined hands, carved on site in the stone Tercé, was considered both fun and popular. It is a work accessible to all, the artist explaining the choice of hands: "They are the perfect extension of our spirit, they contribute to our freedom, our culture. "If his project has appealed to the jury, made especially for the occasion, it is thanks to the approach of the artist in direct relationship with the inhabitants of the town.
From June 14th to June 24th, the rough cut stone will be cut and worked in public, on site, by the artist. Like all the population, the classes of the town are invited to meet Alain Dony during this period to discuss with him.
source Sud Ouest : Après trente mois de travaux, dont seize mois de fouilles archéologiques, le nouvel hôtel de ville de Dompierre-sur-Mer sera inauguré officiellement, le samedi 25 juin, à 17 heures, et ouvrira ses portes le lundi 27 juin.
Avec la fin de ces travaux, c’est le centre-bourg de la commune qui poursuit sa métamorphose : implantations de massifs fleuris, mise en place de liaisons douces, installation de bancs, plantation d’arbres… L’ensemble des espaces publics ont été repensés, l’histoire a été préservée et le patrimoine commun rénové.
Pour donner une touche finale à ce site emblématique, le Conseil municipal a décidé de confier la réalisation d’une œuvre d’art à un artiste local. Ainsi, pour la première fois, à Dompierre-sur-Mer, une sculpture sera implantée de façon pérenne dans un lieu ouvert et accessible à tous.
De grande taille
Neufs artistes de la région, de sensibilités artistiques diverses, avaient répondu à l’appel d’offres lancé pour la réalisation de cette œuvre de grande taille, destinée à marquer l’entrée du nouvel hôtel de ville en symbolisant six fortes valeurs républicaines et humaines : liberté, égalité, fraternité, laïcité, solidarité et entraide.
C’est après une présentation de ces œuvres aux artistes de la commune, au personnel municipal, au représentant du Conseil municipal des jeunes et à la municipalité que le verdict définitif a été rendu : l’artiste retenu est Alain Dony, sculpteur sur pierre de Saint-Pierre-d’Amilly et président du collectif rochelais d’artistes Co-temporaire.
Son projet de mains entrelacées, taillées sur place dans de la pierre de Tercé, a été jugé à la fois ludique et populaire. C’est une œuvre accessible à tous, l’artiste expliquant ainsi le choix des mains : « Elles sont le parfait prolongement de notre esprit, elles contribuent à notre liberté, notre culture. » Si son projet a su plaire au jury, constitué spécialement pour l’occasion, c’est grâce à la démarche de l’artiste en relation directe avec les habitants de la commune.
Du 14 au 24 juin, la pierre de taille dégrossie sera taillée et travaillée en public, sur place, par l’artiste. Tout comme l’ensemble de la population, les classes de la commune sont invitées à venir à la rencontre d’Alain Dony lors de cette période pour échanger avec lui.
