A marble statue of Greek hero Paris is part of the gardens of Charlottenhof Palace in Potsdam, Germany. It shows Paris holding the apple during the Judgement of Paris.
In Greek mythology, Paris was the son of Priam and Hecuba, the king and queen of Troy. He appears as a Hero in several legends, most of them concerning the Trojan War.
German sculptor Rudolph_Schadow made this bronze statue for the Gardens of Sanssouci in the Prussian capital Potsdam.
In 1829, when royal gardener Hermann Sello designed the gardens of Charlottenhof Palace, he placed the statue at the stairway to a Greek-styled pergola, next to a statue of Greek god Hermes. |
