(visit link)

"The residents of Barra do Una, on the south coast of São Sebastião, have been waiting for about two years to build the bridge over the Una River.

The wooden bridge was destroyed by the heavy rains that struck the city in February 2016.

The bridge was used by vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. Without the bridge, residents needed to walk for 4 kms to take their children to day care, go to work or do their shopping.

In June of last year, the city hall built a footbridge, which was even safer because it was higher than the old bridge.

In February of this year, a new heavy rain, partially destroyed the catwalk. Once again, the residents had to face problems in the displacement in the neighborhood.

According to the residents, everyone in the neighborhood is waiting for the definitive construction of a new bridge, which allows the traffic of cars, cyclists and pedestrians. The footbridge remains the only option for residents to cross the river.

"The delay in the construction of the new bridge has damaged the residents, vacationers and, mainly, the economy of the neighborhood", warns the president of SABU (Friends Society of Barra do Uma), Raoul Cardinali.

According to him, the work had already been tendered and there is money destined for its construction, but so far, nothing has been started. "
