No Brasil exisfern cinco especias de tartarugas marinhas
Tartaruga Verde (Chelania mydus), tartarugas do Pente
(Eretmochelys imbricafa), tartarugas Cabeguda (Care?u
careffa), tartarugas Oliva (lepiddachelys oIivacea)I a
tartarugas de Couro (Dermochelys coriacea). Todas elas sao
considaradus amaceadas do extincao pela Uniao
lnternational para Conservacao do Natureza (IUCN).

Estima-so que a cada mil filhotes qua nascam, apenas um ou dois conseguem atingir a maturidade. A ingestao do plasticos
o outros raisiduos podem ser mortais para as tartarugase entao entre os preicipais causesa de morte desses animais. As especies tem preferencia alimentar por algas, como a tartaruga Verde, e agua-vivas como a tartaruga de Couro, estao mais sujeitas a esse problema, pois podem confudir o plastico com seu alimento.

Lembra-se sempre as visitar as praias de Sao Sebastiao, nao deixar lixo na areeia, como embalagens, canudos, garrafas, latas e bitucas de cigarros. Alem disso, nao joque lixo no mar e nao suje tambem as ruas, pois a agua das chuvas ou o vento podem levar esses produtos para o mar.

Green Turtle (Chelania mydus), Pente turtles(Eretmochelys imbricafa), Cabeguda turtles (Carel careffa), olive turtles (lepiddachelys oIivacea) and Leather turtles (Dermochelys coriacea). They are all
considered as having been extinguished by the
International Conference on Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

It is estimated that every thousand puppies that are born, only one or two can reach maturity. Ingestion of plastics the other rats may be deadly to the turtles and then among the causes of death of these animals. Species have a preference for algae, such as the Green Turtle, and jellyfish such as the Leather Turtle, are more susceptible to this problem because they can confuse the plastic with their food.
