Myself , and 3 friends, took a trip to TN, stayed in Marysville, and rode the Tail of the Dragon. We also rode the Cherohala Skyway and the Devil's Triangle north of Knoxville.
But, this story is for the Tail of the Dragon.
I beat the others through, but it was close, Richard was right on my tail. It was more work than fun.
I ride a Victory Vega, 1641cc, has the power and the speed, but on this road I never got above 40.
Shifting on each turn is almost mandatory, and concentration is almost all consuming.
Glad I did, now I can say I did it, but it was really more work that fun.
"Designated US 129, the road is bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest with no intersecting roads or driveways to hamper your travel. It is considered “the destination” for thousands of motorcycle and sports car fans throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Can you brave it? It’s best to be cautious as the turns are tight, but the Tail of the Dragon is guaranteed to be the ride of your life." ~ Deals Gap
