The whales had great economic importance in the region during the sec. XVII, when we had the Armacao of the whales. Located near the Ermida de Santos Antonio de Guaibe, on the Island of Santo Amaro. It was the first whale oil extraction and processing industry for public lighting, which supplied all Baixado Santista and the city of Sao Paulo.
As baleiras tiveram grande importancia econimica na regiao durante o sec. XVII, quando tinhamos a Armacao das baleias. Localizada proximo a Ermida de Santos Antonio de Guaibe, na Ilha de Santo Amaro. Foi a primeira industria de extracao e processamento de oleo de baleias destinado a iluminacao publica, que abasteceu toda Baixado Santista e a cidade de Sao Paulo.
