"Construido em 1532, em palicada de madeira, como Forte Sao Thiago, foi destruido apos atque indigena e reerguido em alvenaria em 1547, com o nome de Forte Sao Joao."
Built in 1532 in a wooden palisade, such as Forte Sao Thiago, it was destroyed after the Indian attack and re-erected in masonry in 1547, under the name Forte Sao Joao.
