DESCRIBED BY NORTH CAROLINA GEODETIC SURVEY 1972 (JWC) CUT IS A N. C. GEODETIC SURVEY TRAVERSE STATION ESTABLISHED IN THE VICINITY OF EASTWOOD, NORTH CAROLINA. CUT IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 3.1 MILES WEST OF THE COMMUNITY OF EASTWOOD AND 4.5 MILES NNW OF PINEHURST. TO REACH STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF US 15-501 AND NC 73 IN EASTWOOD, PROCEED WEST ALONG NC 73 FOR 3.05 MILES TO STATION ON RIGHT, 0.55 MILE EAST OF INTERSECTION WITH SR 1210, AND ON A 5 FOOT BANK (APPROX.). STATION MARK IS A STANDARD N. C. BRASS TRAVERSE DISK, STAMPED CUT 1972, SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE CYLINDER, THE TOP OF WHICH IS 4 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. MARK IS 31.2 FEET N OF C/L OF NC 73. 19.6 FEET SW OF 4 INCH OAK WITH ALUMINUM REF. TAG. 18.9 FEET E OF 3 INCH OAK WITH ALUMINUM REF. TAG. 27.0 FEET SSE OF 5 INCH PINE WITH ALUMINUM REF. TAG.
