While this marker is fairly typical, with the usual detail and some funeral draping on the front and back, it is the text that makes it interesting: There are references on both sides as to his Ohio roots -- his parents are buried in Bryan, OH -- and it has a bit of biographical information. On the front is:

James
Brenner

Born at
Bryan, Ohio,

August 28, 1855,
Died Nov. 1, 1880,

Aged
25 Y'rs 2 Mo's 3 D'ys.

Gone, but not forgotten.
In after time we'll meet thee.

On the reverse is:

in fall of 1877,
from
Bryan, Williams Co.
Ohio.
Occupation, Farmer.
