"L'hôtel était situé sur une voie importante qui aboutissait à la porte de Bélâbre, l'une des cinq entrées principales de la ville haute. Cette demeure de notables connut une évolution rapide.
A une maison à pignon sur rue, élevée dans la première moitié du 16e siècle et comportant une boutique au rez-de-chaussée, fut ajouté, entre 1584 et 1588, un corps de logis perpendiculaire en fond de cour.
Il est desservi par un escalier en vis logé dans une tour ronde située à l'extrémité ouest, et par une galerie à deux niveaux ouverts qui longe la façade sur cour.
Des piliers en pierre prenant appui au sol, portent la galerie haute divisée en quatre travées par des piliers de bois élevés sur un mur-bahut. A la même date, une galerie fut plaquée sur la façade sur cour de la maison à pignon sur rue. Cette seconde coursière, établie au niveau de celle du bâtiment sud, traversait une tour carrée, se poursuivait au-delà de la tour et reliait les deux corps de logis perpendiculaires.
Des pilastres et un pilier en pierre élevés sur un mur-bahut, portent la sablière de plancher de l'étage, à l'origine ouvert et divisé en travées par des piliers de bois reposant sur un mur-bahut. Les chapiteaux cubiques des supports des deux galeries sont ornés de sculptures assez maladroites.
De 1752 à 1763, l'édifice fut restauré et un corps de bâtiment fermant la cour à l'ouest fut construit sur les remparts de la ville. La bonne conservation des galeries et des éléments défensifs de la tour du jardin constituent l'intérêt principal de cet hôtel dont l'évolution architecturale est représentative de celle des demeures de la bourgeoisie locale du 15e au 18e siècle. From 1752 to 1763, the building was restored and a building block closing the courtyard to the west was built on the ramparts of the city.
