Oklahoma Senator
Don Baldwin
Senator Baldwin was the first native-born resident of Caddo County to be elected to the Oklahoma State Senate. Don Baldwin was born in 1912 in Anadarko. He graduated from Anadarko High School in 1929. In 1983 a bell tower was constructed in his honor at Memory Lane Cemetery.
He served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1944-1946. Baldwin was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 1948 and served as a majority floor leader in 1955 and President Pro Tempore from 1957-1959.
Senator Baldwin was a delegate to the Democrat National Convention from Oklahoma in 1952. He served in the senate until 1976.
The Senator Don Baldwin Bridge of Deer Creek South of Hydro on State Highway 58 was named in his honor in 1957. Baldwin passed away in 1979.
