Scouts cross several towns without being disturbed, because passers-by take them for the English.

At Charleroi, arrived at the crossroads of the streets of Montignies and Pont-Neuf, the Germans fall on the French outposts. From the barricade at the end of the street, French machine guns fire. This shooting makes the first wounded and the first dead in the city. They are transported to the civil hospital of Charleroi and the College of the Sacred Heart. The worst would come.
