Cecilienhof Palace, built in 1916/17, was the residence of the oldest son of the German Emperor, Crown Pprince William and his wife, Duchess_Cecilie. In addition to being first in line for the German throne, William was Crown Prince of Prussia and Cecilie was Dutchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
Simplified versions of the arms of Prussia (an eagle) and Mecklenburg (a crowned ox) wer put above the gate to the palace. |
