Binger is a town with about 650 residents. It is located in Caddo County, and is the headquarters of the Caddo Nation. Binger was established in 1901 with the opening of the Wichita-Caddo Reservation, and was named for the Commissioner of the U.S. Land office, Binger Hermann. The economy centered around the growing of peanuts and cotton. A railroad which ran through the town was abandoned in 1939. We were unable to determine the type of government Binger operates under as they do not have a website.
Interestingly enough, Binger City Hall shares a building with the Johnny Bench Museum. Bench hailed from Binger and is thought to be the world's greater major league catcher. Also located in this building is the Caddo County Farm Bureau insurance office. Town departments located in this building are the Police Department, Town Clerk and Public Works. This is a one-story brick building with stone panels beneath each of the windows. A metal shed awning covers the facade, and formerly had a sign reading City Hall. The town offices are open Monday to Friday 8:00-12:00; 1:00-5:00.
