More than 11,000 engraved bricks pave the grounds of Veterans' Memorial Park at The Villages, Florida. The park was dedicated on Veterans' Day - November 11 - in 1998. The plaza includes a granite monument topped by a bronze eagle sculpture, a marker honoring Purple Heart recipients, and dedicated stone benches. A flag pole is positioned at the northeast point of the design.
A specialized pedestal with a weather tight metal case can be found along the southwest edge of the site. Inside is a hefty directory that lists the honoree name, rank, military branch, dates of service, and location number for each donated engraved brick. The day of my visit, the box also held a folded American flag and a POW flag.
The park is located a few hundred yards north of Spanish Springs town square along Paige Place road. New bricks are dedicated annually on November 11th during a Veterans' Day service.

Dedicated to Veterans - Past and Present
The Veterans’ Memorial Park in The Villages was designed to pay tribute to the many men and women who have served their country and provided us with the most precious gift of all - freedom.
In true community spirit, an eleven member committee comprised of Veteran civic groups and organizations worked in conjunction with The Villages and The Villages Foundation to make the Veterans’ Memorial Park not just a dream, but a reality.
This park shall serve as a reminder for the sacrifice of those who served to ensure our freedom of speech, trial, education, representation, travel, talent - even our very destiny. Their sacrifices and dedication to their fellow man and country have given us the freedom we enjoy today. Let us never forget them, nor let future generations forget.
