The tri-sided sign at the side of the Black Mountain car park has a photo taken from the Tower, in 1981, to identify the following localities:

- Mt Pleasant
- Australian National
	University
	(former Hospital site)
- Sullivans Creek
- National Library of
	Australia
- Royal Canberra
	Hospital (former
	Acton House site)
- Power House
- Springbank Island
- Parliament House
	Site

Unfortunately the view from 'ground level' has largely been obscured by the growth of many trees around the summit, and the best view would definitely be from the Tower - which was CLOSED when I was there, and would have cost $7.50 for an adult anyway. When it is available, it is from 9am to 10pm.
[The sign said: Closed until further notice.]
