The Muldershuis is located next to the river Berkel. Long ago this river was used for cargo shipping. This happened with boats that were called Berkelzomp. The last cargo was transported in 1895.
When the captains had to wait when they slid into the lock, they went to the Muldershuis.
The building where the restaurant is now located dates back to 1750.
Originally it was a Saxon farm that belonged to the water mill. The large transverse dwelling house was built as a comfortable home for the lord of Mallum. Nowadays it is a cafe-restaurant and a party room. In good weather there are terraces to relax outside.
A transformation of cafe for the skippers who wait at the lock to cafe-restaurant.
