Bourke Courthouse was constructed of rough-cast rendered brick and face brick with hipped roofs which are clad in slate tiles between 1897 and 1900 and designed in the Federation Free Style .
Bourke outgrew the original 1865 courthouse and a second building was completed in 1877,despite extensions to this courthouse in the 1880s, Bourke also outgrew this second building and the present one was built.
The single storey Police Station across the road built in 1889 was constructed of brick and a tin roof and has a verandah around three sides
The crown on the spire indicates this was a Maritime Court, the furthest inland in Australia
