Frederick Cossom Hollows was born in Dunedin , New Zealand on April 9th 1929, He studied medicine at Otago Medical School. In 1961, Hollows went to Moonfields Eye Hospital in England to study how to be a specialist eye doctor. In the 1970's he worked at the University of New South Wales where he helped to start a program to fix eye diseases in Aboriginal communities in Australia. Thorough his work in Africa and Asia as well as Australia it is thought that more than one million people can see today.
Fred Died in Sydney on 10 February 1993 (aged 63) and was buried in Bourke
