Being of an Eastern Orthodox heritage (it is one of FIVE Orthodox churches in the Australian Capital Territory:
ACT, Orthodox churches), this has a few of the typical features, mainly of a 'blunt' cruciform (mostly rectangular) shape to the church, with entry Narthex to the south, and several 'onion-shaped domes' topped with Orthodox crosses on the roof. It is set within the 'crescent' of McKay Gardens (road), and bounded by a low brick and iron paling fence.
There are two plaques/tablets on the southern face of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, with the right-hand (eastern) one being in English, and the left-hand of the entrance (western) seeming to be in Ukrainian. The English plaque reads:
Ukrainian Autocephalic
Orthodox Church
This War Memorial Church of
St. NICHOLAS
Dedicated to the Fallen in
the Two World Wars
was consecrated by
the Right Rev. Bishop Constantine
on 6th April 1975
To the 'rear' (northern side) is a eight-sided, stepped two-storey memorial building, built to commemorate the Millenium of Christianity in Ukraine (988AD - 1988AD).
