Groundspeak Premium Membergreysman visited Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Denbighshire, Wales, UK
We've driven past the road end a number of times when going to/from Anglesey and Snowdonia. This is the first time we've decided to visit and pulled into the car park off Coedfryn/Gate Road, B5434 (which incidently was closed for road works) to begin our walk along the canal. Mrs.G doesn't have a head for heights so didn't venture very far out over the aquaduct, a remarkable piece of engineering even by today's standards when nothing seems remarkable any more. We live not far from the Grand Union at Weedon Bec, Northants, and have our very own aquaduct, not that many folk who use it realise they are crossing one, its banks are well vegitated and treed so it looks like ordinary countryside, but the engineering is no less remarkable for all that.
