In August 2003, New Plymouth, New Zealand and Kunming, China established a sister city relationship. To enhance, strengthen develop the two cities' friendship, the Kunming Garden is built in New Plymouth in the local gardening style. Inside the garden there is Spring Wind Pavilion of red pillars and yellow tiles, decorated with relief sculptures and colourful paintings - presenting a simple but elegant picture. There are ornamental plants included, adding spring sceneries to beautiful New Plymouth. Kunming Garden is the symbol of the friendship of two cities, inside which the friendship tree planted by both sides will grow up generation by generation and last forever.
