Description:
Numerous gifts have been given from one country to another. The purpose of this category is to seek out these gifts and tell us about them.
Expanded Description:
There are many examples of gifts exchanged between nations. Examples include:

Merci Boxcars filled with gifts from the French people after World War II presented to each of the 48 United States and a 49th shared by the District of Columbia and the territory of Hawaii in a show of gratitude for the United States' help in the war.

Segments of the Berlin Wall given by Germany to various countries around the world.

Other examples include a statue of Leif Erickson given by the United States to Iceland (visit link), a Peace Pagoda given by Nepal to Australia (visit link), and perhaps one of the most well known gifts of all, the Statue of Liberty given by France to the United States (visit link).

Instructions for Posting a Gifts from Other Countries Waymark:

For this category, we're looking for items that were given as a gift from one country to another (see above photos for examples of what we're looking for). This can also include gifts from one international city to another international city as long as the two cities are in different countries.

We're looking for significant gifts for this category, not every small item (e.g., small recognition plaque, knick knack, etc.) given from one country/international city representative to another. If you have any doubt about whether an item would meet the significance requirement, please send a message to the group leader or one of the officers before posting.

1. NAME: The name of the item and its location should be included in the title. Generally this should be the city/town, state and/or country -- whatever is appropriate to its location.

Example 1: Statue of Liberty - New York, NY, USA
Example 2: Peace Pagoda - Brisbane, Australia

2. COORDINATES: Post coordinates to the item, or the nearest location where you can take coordinates if the item is indoors.

3. PHOTOS: At least two original photographs (taken by you) -- a view showing the entire item (this should be the default photo) and a close-up clearly showing a sign with the name of the item and the country that gave it as a gift. If there is no such sign, please state this and the requirement will be waived. However, if there is no sign, you must include a link to an internet site identifying the item as a gift from another country. A GPSr photo is not required.

4. DESCRIPTION: Include as much information about this particular item as you can, especially its history. In particular, you must relate which country gave the item. As stated above, if there is no sign by the item indicating which country gave it as a gift, you must include a link to an internet site that identifies the item as a gift from another country.

LANGUAGE NOTE: We recognize waymarking as a global hobby and welcome waymarks from all countries. However, if the waymark is written in a language other than English, an English translation is required. The English translation does not need to be perfect, just clear enough for the Officers and other viewers to understand what the waymark is about. And, as always, please cite your sources. Thank you!

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
When visiting a waymark, please take a picture that clearly shows the gift item. If you have a picture with yourself and/or your GPSr at the item, that would be great too. Please tell us a little about your experience.
