Construction of the Inn took 3 years and employed 100's of men in the CCC in the late 1930's. Special elements include Pueblo Revival architecture, murals, stained glass, and hammered-tin chandeliers. The Inn also was a Harvey House from 1947-1963.

In 1935, the CCC and WPA worked to install stairs, a suspension bridge, and a new entrance to the Grand Canyon Caverns. You can see the swinging bridge located near the end of the tour above the large sloth.

The ruins of the Agate House were reconstructed by the CCC in 1933. Room 7 was fully reconstructed with a new roof. Room 2's walls were rebuilt to a height of 5ft, but not roofed, and the remaining walls were rebuilt to a height of 2-3ft.
