William Miller was lynched in 1908 after he was accused of bombing the home of a man named Finley Fuller. The black coal miner was taken from the Brighton jai and hungl. The dynamite explosion was set by whites trying to thwart unionization.

Marker commemorates the former site of the King Pharr Canning plant. The McPhillips family brought the company, a major vegetable canning operation, to Cullman in 1946. It operated here until it closed in 1976. The site is now empty.
