Description:
Historic markers are our windows to the past. They educate us, they make us curious to investigate, or they provide a nice excuse to take a break and stretch our legs while we read what happened here.
Expanded Description:

Washington State does not seem to have a state-wide historic marker program. But from my travel of this state, I have noticed that there are many different historic markers/plaques/signs set up by state, city or local organizations in many different areas!

Here are two websites that I have found that show some historic markers:

Washington Heritage Register Check out the link that says "Statewide List of Properties - By County".

Washington Highway Heritage Markers The information is at the bottom of the page.

If there are any more websites that you know of that list historic markers in Washington State, please email me and give me the link.

Instructions for Posting a Washington Historical Markers Waymark:

1. Marker must be specifically of Washington State history. The marker must be part of a recognized national, state or local historic marker series.

2. Two photos: One picture of the marker itself, preferably clear and close enough to see the text. Another picture of the markers subject, if this is applicable. (For instance, if the marker explains the history of a building that's still there, take a picture of the building.)

3. A brief description of what the marker is for. Please include who/what it is talking about, and any dates. Your description could just repeat the marker's text, or you should feel free to add other information found by researching the subject.

4. Coordinates of the marker.

Variables:

There are 6 variables, so please check them out before you go to the marker, so you know what you need to record!

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:

A description of your visit, and more pictures would be great!
