NAME: Please include the name of the beach in the Waymark name. If it doesn’t has a specific name please use a name as descriptive as
possible. Please don't send waymarks with different names on the same stretch of
the
beach.
CORDINATES: The beach should be marked at the main entrance
to the beach. If there isn't a main entrance, then use coordinates for a broad entrance. In any case, you must indicate exactly where the coordinates were recorded!
NB! Please take care when posting a waymark in Beaches. Beaches can stretch
for miles (kilometres) with dozens of public access points - possibly
broad ones but also beaches with no clearly defined access points. Even with named
beaches, there may be multiple access points. Add to this the fact that there is usually no clear delineation as to where one beach may end and another begins along long stretches.
So use your common sense when posting a waymark - you know the beach, we - the
reviewers - can only go over your waymark by using ex Google Earth.
Concerning coordinates you are also welcome to post coordinates for your
favourite spot on the beach in your description. But be aware:
Coordinates for the waymark should be at the main entrance to the beach! (see
above).
PHOTOGRAPHS: Upload at least TWO personally taken photographs of the beach.
If possible one photo of a sign with the name of the beach/area and one photo of
your own choice. Multiple photographs are encouraged to give a good impression of the
beach. Furthermore, the body of water where the beach is located must appear in at least one photo.
NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION: Please include in your description the activities that the beach and its surroundings are good for, such as swimming, sunbathing, playing, walking,
riding, volleyball, fishing, bird watching, etc.. Please also provide in your
description information about items such as: Are cars allowed on the beach? Are dogs allowed on the beach? Are nudes allowed on the beach? Can I buy an ice cream? Are there toilets?
Handicap facilities? Lifeguards on duty? Can I rent a cabana and a chair? Access all time of the day/year? Free access or admission fee?
NOTE: You must include information in your description about access to the beach. Mention such things as roads, trails, parking, etc. This is especially important if beaches are remote or difficult to find or get to, but this requirement applies to ALL waymarks.
LANGUAGE: The international language in this game is English. Feel
free to write in your own language, but there MUST be an English language description.
NOTE: The beach must be publicly accessible. Private or restricted access beaches will not be accepted.
SPECIAL NOTE: While the details outlined in our category description, and the requirements listed in the posting instructions, cover the MINIMUM elements and standards for all waymarks in this category, each waymark will also be evaluated by a volunteer reviewer for overall quality and appropriateness. If a reviewer deems that there are deficiencies in some aspect of the waymark, the waymark may be either declined or accepted with request for changes and/or additions in either content or format.
Each waymark will be evaluated on its own merits. We will endeavor to be reasonable and flexible while maintaining the quality standards for the category. If there is a disagreement, try to work it out with the evaluating officer, or appeal to the group leader, but we reserve the right to accept or decline a waymark based on our best judgement.
LANGUAGE NOTE:
We recognize waymarking as a global hobby and welcome waymarks from all countries. Because of our international scope, we also acknowledge ENGLISH as our lingua franca. English will create the highest level of accessibility globally. All waymarks must have at least a short description in ENGLISH. We encourage bilingual and multilingual waymarks, but one of the languages must be English. We have volunteer translators to help.
Relying on software or internet based translators, such as Babylon and Google Translate, may NOT yield accurate translations that are intelligible. Use these only when there is no alternative. Although we do not expect grammatical perfection, a waymark may be declined if there the English language is not understandable.
