This predominantly white wood framed church has a tall steeple, which is the station. In 1949 the white ball was missing from the top of the weathervane. We can report that it is safely back in place as of 2015, but has changed colour.

This, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the US, is at the end of Quoddy Head Road, which leads south and east from Highway 189 at the coastal town of Lubec. The benchmark is the finial atop the red and white striped lighthouse.

From 1887 to October of 2009 a Catholic Church, it is now closed and has been sold to a developer. The benchmark is the cross atop the taller of the two spires. It is the left, or north, one of the two.

This spire is actually four small spires atop a square tower at the front of the church. The church is painted an off-white colour and stands at the intersection of Main Street (Highway 24) and Bath Road.

St. John is a 103 year old stone church in central Brunswick. Its copper clad spire with gilt cross is our benchmark. It originally appeared dark in colour as it was new, but now it has attained a bright green patina as the copper oxidized.

Machias now has a new post office a few blocks away, but this one still has a benchmark. The BM is in the smooth granite belt line about two feet above ground in the front wall, very near the east end of the wall. The building appears to be vacant.

ME 71 is monumented in the front wall of the Washington County Courthouse in Machias. It is in the smooth granite belt line above the rough granite foundation at the west end of the wall, barely two feet above ground level.

This old wood frame church, built in 1838, has a very tall spire which is topped with an octagonal finial and a "fish" weathervane. It makes for a pretty good benchmark. No longer brown, it is white today.
