Montana Historical MarkersCharles Antilla Building - Red Lodge, MT

in Montana Historical Markers

Another building with a sandstone parapet, this one still legible. Below that parapet is some nice brick corbelling as well as chain brickwork above the upper windows. Below the windows is a stone sill connecting the two. Altogether, a nice façade.

in Montana Historical Markers

Built circa 1905, the building has a rusticated sandstone parapet in which was carved the name and date of the building. Sandstone, being quite soft, was a less than brilliant choice of material as the inscriptions have become nearly unreadable.

As of 2014 the Elks had inhabited their building for a century. Though it certainly doesn't show it, this really is a 100 year old building. Designed by Billings architect C. C. Oehme in the bungalow style, it has the look of a much newer building.
