Built in 1910 as part of the reconstruction of Fort Missoula, this row of buildings on Fort Missoula Road housed the officers on the post from 1910 to 1941. They were all done in Spanish Mission Style, bright white with red tile roofs.

Even soldiers aren't all work and no play, so the parade grounds served as their ball diamond. An odd first occurred here - the first flight of an airplane in Missoula took place at the parade grounds with the flight of Eugene Ely’s Curtiss biplane.

With the first burial taking place in 1876, this cemetery has received soldiers who served in the Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish American War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. As well, several children are buried here.

Built in 1906 as the post exchange or quartermaster's store, the building also served as a recreation hall. Later, in 1962, it became the post headquarters. After the closing of the post it has housed various other agencies.

The Thompson Falls Hydroelectric Dam project was initiated in 1910, coinciding with the construction of this, the first real medical facility to be built in the region. It was the brainchild of Dr. Everett Peek, also a principal in the dam project.

For a very small county, this is really quite a grand courthouse. Built in 1898, its exterior is 100 percent stone, topped with a copper dome on its tall bell tower.

One of the very few Art Deco buildings in Anaconda, Club Moderne opened in 1937 to a large and appreciative crowd. It remains, 77 years later, a lively and popular bar and lounge. The club retains its original art deco flavour.

While it was copper that created Anaconda, down the road, silver was the metal that gave life to the town of Philipsburg. After the silver ran out, Philipsburg has managed to hang on through farming, forestry, tourism and a small amount of mining.

Granite County came into existence in 1893 and by 1896 was the proud owner of this sturdy brick jailhouse and sheriff's office. Well able to stand the test of time, the building is, 118 years later, still the Granite County Jail & Sheriff's Office.

Ostensibly designed by a ship's carpenter, this church's cornerstone was laid in June of 1884. It has been used for services ever since, making it Montana's oldest Catholic church in continuous use. It has held up well for a wood frame building.
