Flora and Fauna Information Signs
 allows ratings
Description:
The category will enable people to locate signs that highlight interesting facts about the local flora and fauna.
Expanded Description:
Many outdoor areas have signs that give an informative snapshot of the local plants, animal, birds, fish, insects and the like.

Whether it be a native vine, an old tree, an endangered lizard or a shy bandicoot these signs are an endless source of information.

The main criteria for signs in this category is that there is an educational value to the waymark.
Instructions for Posting a Flora and Fauna Information Signs Waymark:
The waymark should give the location of a sign, or information board that highlights interesting facts about the local flora and fauna.

The emphasis is on "local" or "native" flora and fauna. This restriction will exclude most signs from zoos and botanical gardens as most of the species kept in these types of places are exotic, however, this does not mean that all signs in these areas will be excluded if they meet the local criteria and are not in abundance in that location.

NOTE: There must be an educational value to the information at the waymark.

Signs that merely state "Beware of Snakes" or similar should not be submitted.

The name should highlight the flora or fauna that is the subject of the sign and the location of the sign. Should there be multiple items of information, use a group description for the subject. If multiple placards or signs are located together as a group on a wall or building, please waymark them as one waymark.

In the long description, please include a brief sentence or two of what information can be found on the sign but should not be a word-for-word transcript of what is written on the sign (otherwise there is less of a reason to visit).

Please upload a close-up photo of the the flora/fauna sign as well as a second backdrop (general area) photo showing the sign in its environment.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Take a photo of yourself (and others) at the waymark and feel free to share any additional information or that is not contained on the sign or your experience generally.
