Donated Engraved Bricks and Pavers

Managed By: Icon Here Brick Layers
Engraved bricks and pavers displays as a fundraising tactic has had a re-emergence throughout the world. They are usually found at historical sites, schools, libraries, and even businesses. Sometimes they are dedicated to a fallen hero or to the friends of a library. They typically act as a sidewalk surrounding a memorial. Our goal is to photograph and document those brick dedications.

Expanded Description:
Laser engraved bricks and pavers are typically used to commemorate an individual (like a Medal of Honor recipient) or an event (such as 9/11/2001). I have looked for a comprehensive listing of these monuments and memorials on the internet and came up empty. Waymarking is a place for these!

Try looking for them at stadiums, zoos, schools, universities, city streetscapes, veteran memorials, firefighter memorials, hospitals, libraries, state and local parks and recreation centers, churches and cities in donor recognition programs, and so many other places. You may find these laser engraved bricks, engraved pavers, and personalized bricks or tiles decorating an entrance, as a building foundation, or as a memorial.

If there's a way to google your find, please add as much information you can to make your story interesting. Think of the people who put them all together and let us know why it was so important for them to tell a story.

You are waymarking a display of bricks, not each individual brick. Cornerstones are not included in this category.

I loved this comment from one of the waymarkers:
"Outside sports stadia in the UK there are lots of these. I was at one modest sized stadium last month and there was a whole WALL of them. With the cat as it stands I could have made HUNDREDS of waymarks (Granted I would have to be slightly insane to do this, but it would be possible)."

So it's looking global...
Instructions for Posting a Donated Engraved Bricks and Pavers Waymark:
You must select at least one of the donors' bricks and provide a close-up photo. Additionally, please take a picture of the overall display of bricks, and a third picture of the complete setting in which the bricks/pavers to show them in their "environment."

One waymark per site, not per brick!
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Please choose a name and provide a close-up of it. Maybe it's one of your relatives or someone with the same name or just the closest one you see. Your choice.

"Down by the River", the Okanogan County Historical Society can be found between two museums, one of which is housed in a very interesting building, the Firemen's Museum, a 1996 replica of the 1910 Okanogan Fire Hall.
