This category is for cataloging ship screws and aircraft propellers around the world.

Free Standing - Ship screws or aircraft propellers for public viewing. These are typically large with no real historic information. These could possibly be found in parks, marinas and airports.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is an example of a large "Freestanding" ships screw located on Tybee Island, GA. It does have the weight of the screw, but no real information about what ship it is from. The information is nice to know, but it would not be considered historic.

Notice due to suggestions from peer review comments the group officers are in the process of deciding if fake props (those not originally intended to be working props) will or will not be accepted under "Artistic". For the time being please hold off on submitting these. Real props that are re-purposed may still be submitted.

Artistic/Re Purposed - These are marine and aircraft propellers, real and representative, that have been incorporated or turned into artwork or used for other, decorative purposes.

A few examples of "Artistic" are, propellers placed into masonry walls or signs, used in furniture, or converted into light fixtures. People are creative and there is no telling where you might find them and how props have been put to use. These must be located in areas open to the public.

These unique bar stools are purely an example of "Artistic". The thickness near the tips and lack of pitch suggest these are not real propellers and were designed exclusively for support. Thanks to Jake39 for use of this image.

Historic/Educational - Can be found in museums, memorials, monuments etc. Information about the waymarks origin, what vessel it served, importance, how it works etc. should accompany these.

This is also the only time a propeller or screw will be accepted that is still attached to a ship or aircraft. The prop must be visible, the craft stationary and the information on display about the prop waymark must be included in your description along with a picture of any markers or signs.
