Rigg Bay near Garlieston was the proving ground for the most important weapon for the Normandy landings. Mulberry Harbours were tested here. At low tide the remains of one can be seen. The concrete roadway tethering wall has remains visible.

White Cross Bay was the site of a dispersed aircraft factory, building Shorts Sunderlands. All that remains are the gate house and an eight foot thick concrete platform on which the structures were erected. Now hard standing of a holiday park.

This brick tower, built in 1904, used to hold the observation station for the Fort Commander of this Coast Artillery fort in Boston Harbor. Nearby are the concrete remains of three gun batteries that used to guard the channel into the inner harbor.
