The earliest parts of this building date from before AD.1194, but most of the former St Johns Church Micklegate dates from the 1400 hundreds. The church was closed in 1934 with several changes of use, its presently a Wine Bar known as The Parish.

York St Mary's dates to the early 11th century, perhaps as early as 1020. Only a small section of stonework in the chancel dates to the original Saxon building. Most of the church is 13th century. The church is now used as an Art Museum.

St Peter sits in a tight, raised churchyard on the edge of the village. Its appearance is a little curious. The tower was shortened because it was unstable in 1677. And in 1898 the church was almost completely destroyed by fire.

The earliest mention of the church of St Sampson’s is 1154 AD. when it belonged to Pontefract Priory. St Sampson's had the Bell Tower added in the 1400 hundreds. The church closed in 1969, and reopened in 1974 as a drop in center for the over 60s.

Cet oratoire datant de 806 est une des plus anciennes églises de France. Il a été érigé par Théodulfe, proche conseiller de Charlemagne pour servir de lieu de culte à sa luxueuse villa. Afin de le transformer en église paroissiale, l’abside ouest sera détruite et remplacée par une nef. Classée monument historique en 1840 par Prosper Mérimée, cette église constitue un rare témoignage de l’art carolingien.
