Coin-Op Binoculars
Managed By: Icon Here Power Windows
Description:
Locations that have Coin-Operated Binoculars that provide an opportunity to get a closer look at a vista or sightseeing item.
Expanded Description:

There are several variations of Coin-Operated Binoculars, but most fit into one of two types.

Classic Style or Contemporary Style

These devices are used by people to get a closer view of an item deemed locally to be of public interest yet often generally inaccessible. The Coin-Op Binoculars are usually provided by a local business or tourism location, but occasionally there are other groups that provide them as well.

In addition to Coin-Op Binoculars, we will also accept Coin-Op Monoculars as well as the free alternatives in the same design. For the remainder of the description, the terms Binocular and Monocular are interchangable.

Suggested Image for Listing

Instructions for Posting a Coin-Op Binoculars Waymark:

You will need to provide an image of the Coin-Op Binocular for the submission. Capture some of the surrounding area, not a close-up of the device itself since they look rather alike. This will also enhance your Waymark Listing.

You will need to provide GPS coordinates that you measured when you visited the site to take the image.

Naming your Waymark Listing: You may name your Waymark Listing anything you like within reason but it should provide some indication of the nature of the site. Consider adding a descriptive tag at the beginning of the name to further assist Waymarking participants to locate the Waymark.

As a guideline, the following is a suggested naming scheme for listings in this category: BINO - Looking over Loch Ness

While you are free to create your own Waymark Listing name, using the suggested style may help people when they visit multiple Waymark locations.

As related to the Coin-Op Binocular itself, you will need to supply the Cost to Operate {Free ones are allowed} & Primary Vista but optionally you can provide more sights that can be seen from the same device.

For locations that have multiple Coin-Op Binoculars you may submit one listing per area. During review if the "Proximity Alert" goes off you will likely be told the area has already be claimed. Previous to Sept 01, 2013 we allowed every device to be listed individually. Those listings are grandfathered.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:

As a suggestion for your visit log, please make every effort to supply a brief-to-detailed note about your experience at the Waymark. If possible also include an image that was taken when you visited the Waymark. Images can be of yourself, a personal Waymarking signature item or just one of general interest that would be of value to others. Sharing your experience helps promote Waymarking and provides a dynamic history of your adventures.

Montauk Point Lighthouse is a wonderful place to visit. The view from this area to the lighthouse makes it very clear that the facility is well maintained. The most striking feature about the lighthouse is its brightly colored, roof.
