William Shakespeare - April 26, 1564 – April 23, 1616

William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright widely regarded as the greatest writer of the English language, as well as one of the greatest in Western literature, and the world's preeminent dramatist. He wrote about 38 plays and 154 sonnets, as well as a variety of other poems. Already a popular writer in his own lifetime, Shakespeare's reputation became increasingly celebrated after his death. Today numerous festivals and events are dedicated to his life and works.
Instructions for Posting a William Shakespeare Waymark:
To create a waymark in this category, you must record the location of a place or an object directly related to the events, accomplishments, or life and works of William Shakespeare.

To be accepted, the waymark must meet the following criteria:

1. You must provide coordinates taken at the location.
2. You must provide one or more quality pictures of the location or the object. Neither you nor your GPSr need to be in the picture. It is preferable that you aren't in it. No pictures taken with cellphone cameras, please.
3. The location or object must be directly related to William Shakespeare, NOT something which simply bears his name.

Examples of acceptable waymarks:

* Specific locations where Shakespeare is known to have lived, visited, or worked. A plaque or a referenced source (like a website) must be provided as proof that Shakespeare spent time at that location.
* Locations of graves, such as graves of his direct descendents.
* Locations of places or objects established specifically to memorialize William Shakespeare and/or his works, including, theaters, festivals, busts, plaques, statues and other likenesses. In these cases, there must be a permanent physical memorial to Shakespeare which bears his likeness or name.
